It Sounds Good? The Raising of the Voices of Feminisms in a Neoliberal Context. Argentina (2015-2019)

This article analyzes some aspects related to the social movements that developed around the Ni Una Menos collective and the so-called “Marea Verde” [“Green Wave”], which reached their peak during the second half of the Alianza Cambiemos government in Argentina (2015-2019). Drawing from a Marxist perspective, we explore related concepts that help understand the genesis and development of these movements. The main objective is to determine how social movements specifically linked to women and the LGBTQ+ community —historically subordinate groups— were able to develop under a neoliberal government and within a context of high labor unrest. We consider how these movements emerge and compete for hegemony, and how the domination over feminized bodies under capitalism is historicized. The analysis moves from the general to the specific, from working-class resistance to more explicitly feminist resistance.
