Abstract

A significant part of the academic literature that addresses youth has as a territorial reference the great urban centers of Argentina. A great number of the papers that analyze public policies of youth do so through national legislation and programs. Studies on youth policies implemented from local governments have been developed to a lesser extent; however, due to their proximity to young people, they are key actors in addressing the demands placed. This paper analyzes the youth policies of the Government of Tierra del Fuego from its provincialization, in 1991, until 2018 through the search and analysis of the sanctioned provincial legislation aimed at young people. In this way, continuities and ruptures are identified around the underlying perspectives on youth in the regulations sanctioned for the period analyzed, as well as the specific characteristics that these assume depending on the particular Fuegian context.
