Buenos Aires Police Force, Civil Society and the Legitimacy of Violence. An Analysis from Luciano Arruga's Case
Keywords:
Police, Violence, Social legitimacyAbstract
In order to understand the forms of police violence and their socially constructed legitimacies, we will address the events surrounding the disappearance and death of Luciano Arruga. The analysis of this case allows us to study the articulation between forms of legitimacy of violence and the logic behind police action. By studying the actions of a nongovernmental organization and the uses of police violence as a resource for spatial governance, we obtain invaluable tools to reflect on the articulation between different forms of legitimacy and the logic behind police action.
